St Matt's Church

We have very strong links with St Matt's Church in Exeter. Jess Hodges and Joy Vincent visit St Sidwell's every Thursday to deliever Collective Worship which is linked closely to our Christian values.

We visit St Matt's on numerous occasions each year for events such as our Harvest festival and Christmas performances.

Exeter Mosque

At St Sidwell's, we proudly maintain a strong and positive partnership with the Exeter Mosque.  Our close collaboration with the Imam provides support for our school community. We regularly arrange educational visits to the mosque, giving children direct insight into Islamic worship practices—including tours of the prayer hall, explanations of ritual washing, and opportunities to hear the call to prayer. These trips significantly enhance the children’s learning and deepen their appreciation of cultural diversity.

Exeter Food Bank

We understand the vital role Exeter Food Bank plays in our local community and the transformative impact it has on families facing hardship. In line with our school valueS, we remain committed to actively supporting this essential charity. That’s why we maintain an ongoing request for donations via the collection basket in the entrance hall.

Essentials Food Bank

Every Tuesday, Essential Food Bank visits local supermarkets to collect surplus, in-date food—fresh produce, bakery items, and packaged goods—that would otherwise go to waste. The dedicated volunteer then distributes these donations directly to our school aiming to support our families and school community. This weekly initiative not only helps reduce food waste but also offers a vital lifeline to those facing food insecurity, all through a compassionate and practical local effort.

Celebrating diversity within our community

We deeply value our connections with our wonderfully diverse school community and are passionate about working alongside parents and families to celebrate key cultural events throughout the year.

We are incredibly fortunate to have an amazing group of families who collaborate with us to organise memorable events. Some of these have recently included:

  • A vibrant Bollywood & Bhangra evening, with live performances, dances, and costumes.

  • Our festive Eid celebrations, which featured delicious home-cooked food and traditional dress

These events are more than just celebrations—they’re an opportunity to share cultural heritage, learn through experience, and bring every family into the heart of school life.
